48 Hours in Rapid City

The first time i came to rapid city i actually discovered this place on accident, because it’s in the middle of nowhere. I was road tripping through colorado and wyoming, and i had an extra day with nothing to do, so i looked around and saw on google that rapid city was only an hour away, so i decided to come here and see what rapid city had to offer. after spending the day here, i realized this place had WAY more fun stuff to do than the internet was telling me about. Only spending the day here, I knew I had to come back to show you guys what a fun place this is. So since I’m actually here for about the next 24 hours on a layover, here we go!

So now that we have our rental chariot for this adventure, first things first, make a quick stop at Mt. Rushmore.

Notice i said make a quick stop, because that’s really all you need here. Even if it’s one of those places you wanted to check off your bucket list, mt. rushmore is actually really really small. You get here, you park your car, walk up a few steps, and there you are. The walkway that has the flags from all 50 states, and at the end of the walkway, boom, there’s the faces. Everybody has this idea that mt rushmore is this huge towering awe inspiring sight to behold. It’s not, it’s actually small, and really underwhelming. Everybody that ive ever talked to about it has said its surprisingly disappointing. Not to discredit the people who designed, built, and risked their lives to make this monument what it is today, but in all honesty, a quick stop here is more than enough.
